Discriminating Primordial Wisdom in Renchen Ulm

On January the 26th at Bodhi Path Renchen-Ulm Lama Jampa continued teaching Karma Thinley Rinpoche's commentary on the third Karmapa's text, Discriminating Consciousness and Primordial Wisdom (Namshe Yeshe).  Picking up where he left off last September, Rinpoche’s text continued to illustrate that there is no other creator than mind, through examples from science, cause end effect and cognition.

In short, since it is impossible to find external objects such as forms that create the various inner objects of sensory cognition, the relationship of object and subject between the external container (the world) and its inner contents (sentient beings) is established: they are mutually dependent.

Having established that all external appearances are mind, the true existence of the mind itself was refuted, first using the Madhyamaka analysis, followed by the scriptural evidence in the teachings of the Buddha himself. The teaching concluded with a short introduction of the eight consciousnesses which is to be explained in detail during the next teaching.

In commemoration of the 10th year anniversary of the passing of Shamar Rinpoche, at the end of the last session Sabine Teuber, on behalf of Bodhi Path Renchen-Ulm, presented two beautifully framed Tsa-Tsas of the 16th Karmapa and Shamar Rinpoche to Lama Jampa.
